Veterinary Surgeons

Stefan Radermacher Dr.med.vet., MRCVS

Most of our regular clients will know Stefan -or at least remember the shirts! He and his wife Jennifer (not a vet) own the practice. Stefan qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1991 from Munich University and went on to do a PhD at the University of Tuebingen. Upon qualification he decided to improve his English and veterinary skills and moved to England where he initially joined a mixed animal practice in Herefordshire.

During his first couple of years in England Stefan did predominantly large animal work but decided to concentrate on small animals after joining the RSPCA Animal Hospital in Putney (yes, where Animal Hospital was filmed!) in 1997. It was here that Stefan really developed his passion for small animal veterinary medicine and he has not touched a cow or sheep since!

Stefan has a really keen interest in dental work so we are particularly well equipped to deal with all manner of dental ailments in small animals. Stefan never intended to stay in England when he first moved, but he met Jennifer over ten years ago and the rest, as they say, is history. They have owned Best Friends Vets for five years now. Stefan and Jennifer have two children, Georgia and Connor. Lana, their black german shorthaired pointer is often seen at the surgery, meeting and greeting clients at reception.
